What is an independent prescriber?
In the UK, a selection of non-medical healthcare professionals can qualify to be non-medical prescribers (NMP). As your professional pharmacy, we offer private prescription services for all of our patients, new and regular. From emergency inhalers to antibiotics, creams, ointments and emergency contraception. What can an independent prescriber prescribe?
As non-medical prescribers (NMPs), we can prescribe any medicine for any medical condition. This includes medicines and products listed in the BNF, unlicensed medicines and all controlled drugs in schedules two – five. There are, however, some limitations. Speak to us today for more information.

NHS Urgent Medicine Supply Advance Service (NUMSAS)
The NUMSAS service initially established in early 2019, was designed to reduce the pressure on urgent and emergency care of handling urgent medication requests, whilst ensuring patients had access to the medicines and appliances they needed. NUMSAS manages referrals from NHS 111 to a community pharmacy when a patient needs urgent access to a medicine or appliance they had been previously prescribed.
